Bridges to Prosperity
One Bridge , A Global Solution
Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) is a social-impact organization dedicated to expanding rural infrastructure to cultivate economic resilience by constructing trailbridges. They are bridging the gap in access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for sustainable development and growth through advocacy, evidence-based practices, and technical assistance.
Navigating a Path Forward for Bridges to Prosperity
In the rural farmlands of the world, a staggering 1 in 7 people find themselves cut off from vital resources and services such as markets, employment, schools, clinics, and hospitals, all due to the critical yet perilous rainy seasons that play a pivotal role in agriculture. This isolation poses a significant challenge that goes beyond mere inconvenience; it's a matter of life and death.
By focusing on building trailbridges in countries like Rwanda in areas that lack a significant amount of transport connectivity, B2P is one of the leading organizations transforming safe access to critical resources ultimately combating global poverty as well as other significant targets of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
On the cusp of Bridges to Prosperity’s 20th anniversary, the organization was simultaneously streamlining its purpose by developing a strategic plan to solidify its leadership in addressing access to sustainable livelihoods in rural communities. This project helped B2P build a roadmap for them to articulate their vision.
The strategic thought partnership began with an on-site residency to develop a positioning strategy that outlined future goals for their communication strategy and design. The outcome was a collaborative brief that included aligning internal teams, crafting key messaging, and driving stakeholder engagement.
Upon completing our initial project in March 2020, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent global economic downturn significantly impacted B2P's fundraising efforts. The engagement was therefore extended to help navigate this unprecedented moment. Based on the findings and learnings of the collaborative brief we supported B2P through numerous efforts such as designing a 36 page 2025 Strategic Plan to building a transformative fundraising campaign that instilled organizational resiliency and longevity.

The One Bridge Campaign
A Resilient Pathway for Generations
For me, the concept of one bridge also brings it down to the concept of one person and the dignity and worth of every person as a unique individual. I think people have a right, a human right, to a safe and connected world.
- Erica Brandt, Bridges to Prosperity
When assessing how to align B2P’s strategic plan with the campaign's needs, we realized that the $100,000 fundraising goal was equal to the cost of building one bridge. So, even in this unprecedented moment, achieving the goal could still significantly impact a community.
So, instead of focusing on the money or people as victims of poverty when many in the world were hurting, we redefined the fundraising goal as taking action for a tangible outcome with real impact. We named the campaign "One Bridge" and launched it on November 20th, 2020.

As key strategic partners and contributors, we also oversaw the campaign's content development and execution, including: research, design, content creation, stakeholder management, and the crafting of graphic elements, patterns, digital booklets, illustrations, email communications, and videos. Our collaboration with internal and external partners was instrumental in managing the overall production and cadence of the campaign, ensuring a comprehensive and cohesive approach that instilled confidence in our stakeholders.
By December 18th, B2P hit its goal of raising $100k, almost two weeks ahead of schedule. Overwhelmed and overjoyed by their most successful fundraising drive, B2P secured a matching donor for a second challenge of $50k to build a second bridge. This goal came through by December 30th. By the end, the One Bridge campaign raised 80% over the original goal.
In total, over 400 individual donors gave from across four continents, creating the global coalition that B2P had envisioned. In addition, previous donor engagement was high, and GivingTuesday and Colorado Gives Day (two days of giving where new donors contribute) saw their highest participation ever. Old and new donors were moved and touched by B2P's new positioning as a global coalition working to achieve economic and climate resilience through a tangible, proven impact solution.
In the words of the VP of Evaluation, it was the best content and communications strategy the organization ever had during one of the hardest years it had ever had.

One Year Later
One year later, we returned to the Nyarusange community to capture residents' stories for the 2021 fundraising appeal, on which we also collaborated with Bridges to Prosperity. More information on the "Crossing One Bridge" campaign is available upon request.
